One session lasts three to four months. While the drug is active the muscle goes unused and shrinks, and the reduced size does not return immediately once it wears off. With repeat sessions the smaller state holds and the interval can be extended, and when combined with jaw treatment the two are planned on the same cycle.

Chewing may feel weaker for the first two or three weeks. Avoid hard foods for a while and ordinary meals are unaffected. The temple muscle is also used for chewing, so when this is combined with jaw treatment the loss of chewing strength feels somewhat more noticeable.

Volume at the temple takes two to three months to reduce, because the muscle shrinks gradually as it goes unused. The feeling of weaker chewing arrives first, within two or three weeks, but that alone does not change the outline, so comparing after two or three months is more accurate.
