For managing widespread melasma with minimal irritation.
Accutoning passes low-power laser over the whole face several times to break pigment down a little at a time. Firing hard in one pass can make melasma darker instead, so this method deliberately splits it into many weak passes. Irritation is low in exchange for requiring repetition, and it is used on pigment spread widely, such as melasma.
It is done in five to ten sessions at two to six week intervals. Brightening shows from the third, because it breaks pigment down bit by bit at low power and no single session brings a large change. In exchange, the low stimulus reduces the risk of melasma darkening.
